Megaworld takes Manhattan to Sydney

Megaworld takes Manhattan to SydneyFor the price of a second-hand car in Australia, one could purchase a brand-new triplex close to the Manila metropolitan area. And for the price of a deposit on a country home in NSW you could own outright a two-bedroom condominium in the heart of Quezon City in the Philippines.

That, in plain language, was the bottom line of Megaworld business development consultant Danny Madlansacay’s message in Sydney recently and confirmed by the developer’s Australian representative Cesar Bigornia.

Mr Madlansacay was in Australia recently to make a pitch for young families and retirees to invest in Megaworld’s property developments in Metro Manila and surrounding areas.

”Megaworld is creating elegant and secure townships, some in the very heart of the city, where families can live, work, study and play,” he said.

”Each township provides residential homes and units, shops, offices, schools, entertainment facilities and playgrounds.”

Mr Madlansacay, on the invitation of Mr Bigornia, was in Sydney to announce the launch of Megaworld’s latest project, the Manhattan Garden City, the first transport-oriented development (TOD) in the Philippines.

In major urban centers such as Singapore and Manhattan in New York, TODs offer quick access to key destinations with their direct link to mass transportation systems. Megaworld is the first developer to replicate this concept in the Philippines.

A trend-setting residential community, Manhattan Garden City will be integrated with the MRT-3 and LRT 2 mass transit systems at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City.

”Megaworld has masterplanned the project to make it accessible to virtually the whole of Metro Manila through the elevated train systems,” Mr Madlansacay said. ”The LRT-2 connects the east and west sides of Metro-Manila from Santolan Avenue in Pasig to Recto Avenue in Manila. The MRT-3 on the other hand, runs from North Avenue on Taft Avenue along EDSA in the south. Both systems meet at the Araneta Center in Cubao.”

Comprising 20 buildings with more than 9,000 residential condominium units, Manhattan Garden City will rise on a five hectare property owned by the Araneta Group at the 35 hectare Araneta Centre

A focal point of the project is a four story high garden walkway. Also a first in the Philippines, the park inspired walkway will interconnect all 20 buildings at the podium level. This will connect Manhattan Garden City dwellers to the shops, offices, restaurants and entertainment centers at the Araneta Center so they can live, play, shop and more like never before. #
